Ms. Jolene R. Rice joined CWL in 2013. Ms. Rice specializes in maritime, transportation, and insurance matters, including maritime personal injury and property damage claims, insurance coverage disputes, and commercial litigation.

Prior to joining CWL, Ms. Rice had been an associate at Sands Lerner in Los Angeles since 2008, where her practice focused on maritime and transportation (marine, rail and truck), insurance defense, labor and employment, commercial transactions and litigation, product liability, environmental regulatory and litigation matters, and premises liability.

Prior to joining Sands Lerner, Ms. Rice obtained a Master of Laws in Admiralty from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana. After her graduation from Tulane, Ms. Rice served as clerk to the Honorable Clement J. Kennington with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges in Covington, Louisiana. Her caseload at the OALJ consisted mainly of disputes arising under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Longshore Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.

Ms. Rice graduated in the top 30% of her class from Southwestern University School of Law’s advanced two-year SCALE program in 2004. During law school, she served as a law clerk in the Natural Resources Division of the Office of the Attorney General in Los Angeles, where she concentrated on environmental regulatory and litigation matters. Prior to law school, Ms. Rice worked as a paralegal for five years in various legal fields, including insurance, labor and employment.
